Report on the 5th gathering of the Iranian Drummers Association, held on Thursday, May 1, 2014
The gathering opened with a message of congratulations from master Keyvanshokouh, who unfortunately could not join us due to illness. Congratulating everyone on the anniversary of these meetings, he wished each and every one of you success.
Next,  Shahram Shojaei gave an instructive talk on how to manage the instrument in one’s daily life depending on one’s goals, and pointed out some subtle points about truly understanding the instrument. He closed by recommending several books for a deeper understanding of music.
After a short report by Alireza Tabatabaei on the organization of and participation in the 2nd Play Along festival, a teaser of the first round of participants’ performances was screened, and the full video was handed out to friends.
Ashoor Moradian played a track called “Sleep” (Khab) by Haman to open the second part of the gathering,  which focused on drum programming (Drum Programming), and he made some important and interesting points about the role of the Drum Machine in contemporary music.
Alireza Tabatabaei then outlined the educational programs for the coming year and discussed matters regarding the association’s membership card with friends.
It is worth mentioning that Arash Moghaddam, unfortunately unable to attend this gathering due to a busy schedule, warmed everyone’s hearts with a congratulatory message. This time we also hosted some very dear guests who joined us for the first time; the presence of the esteemed artist Davood Arikeh (flutist) was an honor for the association.
The independent website of the Iranian Drummers Association (Iranian-Drummer.com) thanks all our dear artist friends, especially the musicians who came from other cities and enriched the association’s fifth gathering with their presence, and hopes these meetings will keep getting better each time.
