Tears of the Man in White in the Chill of Milad Hall

* Act One:  The second installment of Mazyar Fallahi’s four-part series of winter love songs opened with a solo by virtuoso violinist Babak Imani, which gauged the crowd’s excitement and showed just how energetic the audience was. “Ghorboon-e Mast-e Negahat” (I’d Give My Life for Your Intoxicating Gaze) was the first song Fallahi performed that night. He looked a little nervous at first, but soon took command of the stage and overcame his nerves. Mazyar Fallahi’s fans can confidently be called among the most passionate and energetic in pop music; they sang along to every song so loudly that at times Fallahi’s voice could barely be heard.

* Act Two: “Asheghooneh” (Romantic), “Matarsak” (Scarecrow) and “Aks-e Yadegari” (Souvenir Photo) came next. Mazyar Fallahi proved he has a special knack for managing the excitement of the fans in the hall. This showed at several moments, and he kept injecting good energy into the crowd, making the show more exhilarating by the minute. In this part of the show, as at his other concerts, Davoud Jafari amazed everyone with his artistry and earned an extraordinary ovation!

 * Act Three: “Kenar-e Sib o Razeghi” (Beside the Apple and the Jasmine), “Ye Rooz Saafi Ye Rooz Abri” (One Day Clear, One Day Cloudy) and “La’nat Be Man” (Damn Me) were also on the set list. What set this show apart was that Fallahi performed the songs back to back without pauses, a genuinely welcome touch that pleased the audience and avoided the dead time singers often leave between songs. Tonight’s stage décor also looked great, and Mazyar’s outfit matched it beautifully: both evoked winter and put the beauty of winter snow on display for all. Before entering the hall, audience members were handed CDs containing two tracks, “Leila” and the new song “Mehman-e Man Bash” (Be My Guest). “Be My Guest” was performed live for the first time that night by Mazyar Fallahi together with Mohammadreza Alimardani (the “dubbing prodigy”), and it thrilled the crowd.

 * Final Act: “Roya-ye Vagheii” (A Real Dream), “Delam Beshkane Harfi Nist” (If My Heart Breaks, So Be It), “Khoshbakhti” (Happiness), “Baraye Baran” (For Baran) and “Ghalb-e Yakhi” (Frozen Heart), which fans had requested again and again since the start of the show, were also performed. Milad Nodast played a solo for a few moments, showing off his guitar skills to everyone.

. . . Then came “Leila”, which received an extraordinary welcome. A highlight was the music video made for the song; screening it in the hall created an indescribable atmosphere. For a few moments Mazyar Fallahi’s eyes welled up as he shared his tender emotions with the audience. “Doroogheh” (It’s a Lie) brought a fitting close to Mazyar Fallahi’s first night of winter concerts. Tonight’s special guests: Shabnam Gholikhani, Yaha Kashani, Arsalan Ghasemi and Bardia Fallahi (Mazyar Fallahi’s younger brother, who had come from Australia for the show).

The orchestra that performed the music for the evening featured Ashoor Moradian (drums), Milad Jowzi (bass guitar), Milad Nodast (classical guitar), Babak Imani (violin), Aiman Khorasani Rad (electric guitar), Navid Eskandar (keyboards and piano) and Davoud Jafari (accordion)!
