With more than 25 years of professional experience, Ashoor Zafar Moradian is a drummer, music educator, music researcher and music producer, and one of the active figures in contemporary Iranian music. His work across live performance, studio recording, education, research, music production and international collaborations has shaped a coherent professional path over more than two decades, built on experience, teaching, creativity and the development of musical knowledge.
He began his professional career officially in 2001, choosing drumming from the very start as the main direction of his artistic work. Over the years, working in Pop, Rock, Fusion and contemporary music, he has taken part as a drummer and session drummer in numerous projects, collaborating with various artists, composers and producers on live performances, recordings, television programs and studio productions.
His artistic career includes collaborations with artists such as Mazyar Fallahi, Mostafa Ragheb, Mani Rahnama, Javad Yasari, Dariush Khajeh-Nouri, Nima Raeisi and Alvand Jalali, as well as groups such as Haman Band, The Ash Quartet and Seir Ensemble. These collaborations form part of his ongoing activity in Iran's professional music scene and in international projects.
Education has always been one of the central pillars of Ashoor Zafar Moradian's professional work. He holds official teaching qualifications from Iran's cultural and arts institutions and from the Technical and Vocational Training Organization, and over the years he has played an effective role in passing on knowledge and experience to a new generation of musicians through specialized courses, masterclasses, seminars and workshops at universities, music schools and cultural centers.
From 2016 to 2022, he served as an official instructor for the Modern Music School Germany (Iran branch), contributing to specialized drum education based on international teaching standards.
Together with Master Keyvan Shokouh, Arash Pezhand Moghadam and Alireza Tabatabaei, he is also a co-founder of the Iranian Drummers association, formed with the goal of advancing specialized percussion education, organizing educational events, connecting musicians with one another and raising the standing of percussion instruments in Iran.
In music production, Ashoor Zafar Moradian is the founder and executive producer of Mehregan Records, an independent label active in the production, release, management and development of music projects. He has also contributed to the design and development of the MOCO 609 electronic drum kit, applying his experience as a musician to music product development.
On the international stage, collaboration with respected names in the music industry forms an important part of his professional activity. He currently serves as an Official Artist for Pearl Drums, Alchemist Drums and Mantra Instruments, and has previously been an official artist for Paiste Cymbals and Agner Drumsticks. In 2015, he was named an Authorized Musician by Roland.
His career has included appearances at major festivals, specialized awards, seminars and educational masterclasses, television performances, and coverage of his work by domestic and international media and press agencies. Throughout, his path has been grounded in continuity, learning, professional skill development and the expansion of international connections.
Alongside performing, teaching and music production, research also holds a special place in his work. He is the author of the instructional book "Feels So Good" on the handpan, and is currently writing "Rhythm; The Movement of Life," a research work that takes a scientific, interdisciplinary look at the place of rhythm in music, culture and human life.
Today, Ashoor Zafar Moradian's professional activity rests on four main pillars: performance, education, research and music production. He believes a musician's responsibility is not limited to the stage alone, but also includes teaching, generating knowledge, supporting a new generation of artists and expanding cultural exchange.
